Our Roots & Mission
Where It All Began
NiK Peavy was born & raised in Unadilla, a small rural town in central Georgia. Since earning their M.Ed., NiK has done educational, community, & advocacy work for the queer & trans community on a variety of college campuses throughout the south & midwest. NiK has worked with different businesses including K-12 school systems & medical facilities to train & consult on ways to be more inclusive of the LGBTQ+ community.
NiK’s teachings come from a place of “you don’t know what you don’t know.” As a person who grew up in a town where a lot of this language & these concepts did not exist, NiK believes in good intentions & that, just like them, people want to learn.
NiK is a true believer in the power of self-advocacy & is committed to helping people learn to advocate for themselves. NiK knows firsthand how vital spaces are where queer people can just breathe & is determined to help build more of those spaces throughout the world.
A Modern Approach
We believe the only way to do this work is together. No one wants to sit through hours-long lectures about concepts they have never heard of containing words they have never used. So instead, we approach each topic as if it is something everyone in the room is learning for the first time. We work hard to break down these vast concepts into bite-size pieces; this allows us to have a deeper conversation about many of these subjects you encounter in your daily life but may have never stopped to really ponder. We will discuss new ways that topics, such as gender & attraction, are now being thought about & how these new definitions may change how people interact with the concept.
Accessibility
We strive to make education more accessible. We believe that economic class nor where you were born should determine whether or not you get the chance to learn about these topics. To fulfill this goal, we offer our trainings on a sliding scale for many smaller & non-profit organizations.
